We
only had one night at Pullman Saigon Centre as we were in
transit. We came from Macau (see the
Macau trip report on this separate
page) and we were heading to the island of Phu Quoc (see this trip
report). We did not explore Saigon / Ho Chi Minh City as we were
only there for the night - but we have been there on vacation before and
you can read the
Saigon trip report on this page. When we arrived at the
hotel the suitcases were taken care of right from the taxi and the check
in was fast. Taxi was 200.000 Dong (9 USD) from the airport by the way
but it can be 150.000 if you use the meter.
We
got room 1913 and the room was very nice when entering the room itself.
Black tiles on the floor to start with were replaced by a grayish carpet
so the room was a bit dark at night. The centerpiece in the room was a
large king-size bed that was soft and included a good duvet and nice
linens and it also included some tree stumps as night stands on each
side. A sofa/recliner was placed by the large window and there was a
chair next to a small table and I assume that it was meant to be a work
desk. There was a 40” flat screen TV on the wall. There was also a
minibar with a selection of drinks and the wardrobe included hangers and
a safe –but it would have been great with an iron and ironing board.
The
bathroom has a very good layout. The shower was large to fit at least
three people and included both a rainforest shower and a handheld shower
head. The water pressure and warm water was great and there was also
space to put stuff if you had brought along your own soap and shampoo.
The amenities were very good as well as it included tooth brush, shave
kit, emery board, q tips, cotton pads in addition to the regular shampoo
and shower gel. The toilet was separated from the bathroom by a frosted
glass door.
Breakfast
at the hotel is great. A vast selection of bread, cereal, fruit, hot
dishes, spread etc. There was an egg station where you could get the
eggs made to your preference. There was even an ice cream stand where
you could help yourself to three different kind of ice cream – a dream
breakfast for kids. There is a gym and a pool on the 6th floor – we did
not have time to try it out but it didn’t look bad at all.
We
stayed on the 19th floor but you can take the lift to the 30th floor and
take the stairs to the bar on the 31st floor. The bar has a great view
of Ho Chi Minh City and they serve snack and drinks. The location of the
hotel is not perfect but it is not bad either. It is only about 1 km to
Ben Than market so you can easily walk there and to the backpacker area
for some drinks and snack.
Conclusion: Pullman hotel
in Saigon offered a nice modern room with a great layout. The breakfast
is excellent and even if the location is not perfect it can still work
great if you are planning to check out Ho Chi Minh City. I would not
mind staying at this hotel again. You can read more about the hotel on
the official
homepage. Please get in touch on
