Where to go, where to go… Jan 11

We have started thinking about where to go during Easter but we can’t make up our mind. We would like to go for a week or two so we probably want to keep the flight less than 6-7 hours and we would also want to avoid a big time difference in order to not be too jet-lagged ;-) We have been thinking of places like Istanbul in Turkey, Egypt, maybe Madrid and Barcelona in Spain. maybe Portugal. So have you got any great recommendation on where to go during Easter (around April 1st 2010)? Have you been to any of the places that I have mention and would you recommend it?

One place I’m considering visiting this year is, in fact, Spain.

Nearly seven years ago, I visited Egypt. I wouldn’t recommend anything more than two days in Cairo (the museum and Giza are an obvious must), and you should definitely see Luxor. I also visited Alexandria (not much there), the desert oasis of Siwa (interesting, but perhaps a little out of the way if you’re only there a week), Aswan (really liked seeing Abu Simbel), and Dahab (watched the sunrise from atop Mt Sinai). I travelled by bus and train, but I also had a few internal flights, which you may want to consider so as to maximise your time there. Egypt’s ancient wonders are truly magnificent.

Damn, awesome website. I actually came across this on Yahoo, and I am happy I did. I will definately be coming back here more often. Wish I could add to the conversation and bring a bit more to the table, but am just absorbing as much info as I can at the moment.

    Thank You
