Great location and tiny room Aug 31

I stayed at Radisson Edwardian Berkshire Hotel in London the end of October 2008 in connection with a short trip to London. I booked the hotel in advance and paid 188 GBP. When I arrived, the check in was very fast and I was assigned to room 801 which was on the top floor.  When I first came into the room I found a small room but I was prepared for this based on the reviews that I have read in advance.  But the room itself was quite nice and seemed very organized and tidy at first glance. You can read the rest of the review by clicking the link below.

Grand Hotel Kempinski Geneva – expensive and a bit outdated Aug 21

I stayed at Grand Hotel Kempinski in the beginning of November 2008 in connection with a short trip to Geneva. I booked the hotel in advance and paid about 2500 NOK (about 365$). I took the taxi from the airport to the hotel and that cost about 35 CHF and check in was quite fast and I got room 4460. It was easy to see that this is a pretty luxurious business hotel and the lobby area is quite vast and there were lots of shops selling good quality watches and there is even a huge cigar shop filled with Cuban cigars. Skene House Rosemount Aberdeen Aug 17

In September 2008 I went to Aberdeen on a short business trip. I was not sure where to stay so I asked a colleague of mine that had been to Aberdeen before and he said “Stay at Skene House on Rosemount….but be sure to ask to stay in the church”. I found “the church” recommendation to bit a bit odd but I followed the advice and booked the room. Click on the more link below to read the entire review.

Majestic hotel in Bangkok – not the best hotel Aug 15

I stayed at the Majestic Grande hotel in Bangkok from Friday 28th of September until Monday October 1st 2007. I had room 1605 located on the 16th floor and I had a view from the Sukhumvit area where the hotel is located towards the Lumpini park area. We chose to stay at this hotel as it was rated very high on TripAdvisor.com and the price was quite low (which seems to be a great combination) but as we found out you can’t always trust the ratings on TripAdvisor. Centara Grand at CentralWorld in Bangkok Jul 25

I stayed at Centara Grand at CentralWorld in the beginning of December 2008. I booked the hotel via the internet and it was 4000 THB per night. As I booked it via the internet I also got the promotion of either getting a room upgrade or getting access to the lounge on the executive level. For reference: I have been to Bangkok a number of times before and I have stayed at places like Lebua at State tower, Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit, Rembrandt, Majestic, Dusit Thani etc. Here is a trip report that I made from Bangkok when we went there in 2007.

Review of Hotel Pulitzer Amsterdam Jul 16

I stayed at Hotel Pulitzer in Amsterdam from March 16th to March 18th on a work trip to the city. I went for this hotel as they could offer a good deal on 2 night stay and as it was a Starwood hotel and I’m in the Starwood Preferred Guest program. I had to pay 207€ per night for the room. I have been to Amsterdam before but I had almost forgotten how charming this city can be. Nikki and I went there in 1999 and it was one of our first vacations together after she came to Norway. Here is a trip report from back then http://gardkarlsen.com/amsterdam.htm .

What to find out which hotel on offer on Lastminutetravel.com? Jul 15

Lastminutetravel.com is one of those websites that offers you a hotel at a certain price, a certain class and a certain area without really giving you the name of the hotel. Here is a way to find out what hotel that is on offer. First clink on the link of the hotel that is offered and in the URL you will see hotelId=9999 (where the 9999 will be unique for each hotel). Go to this link:

http://www.touricoholidays.com/en/PageHotelDetail.aspx?hotelId=9999&provider=localTgsProvider

and replace 9999 with the hotel ID and the name of the hotel will pop up :-)

Review of Traders Hotel Dubai Jul 13

I have stayed at Traders hotel in Dubai a numer of times and I have been very happy with the hotel. So when I went to Dubai in April I decided to stay at Traders Hotel to see if the hotel could be compared to the hotel in KL. I booked the room online on the the Traders hotel website and it was 540 AED (about 150 USD) excluding breakfast. I only stayed there 1 night in connection with a meeting in Dubai.
